EUCustoms union

Clothing in free circulation in Turkey that travels with an A.TR movement certificate usually enters the EU without customs duty. Import VAT and your broker’s fee still apply.

UKRules of origin

The UK-Turkey trade agreement allows zero tariff where the goods meet its rules of origin, which depends on where the fabric came from. Tell us in the brief if the goods land in the UK.

→Transport

Road freight to much of the EU usually takes days, not weeks. Your forwarder confirms the transport, the timing and the paperwork.

General guidance, not customs advice: confirm the HS code and your duty position with your customs broker or forwarder before the first shipment.

Cost

What knitwear costs depends on the yarn.

Yarn is most of the price of a sweater, and it varies more than any other fabric. That is why we quote knitwear from your brief, not from a table.

Knitwear is priced by the yarn, the gauge and the knitting time. Our cost calculator does not cover fully fashioned knits yet, so we will not show you a number we cannot stand behind.

Send the yarn, the gauge and the quantity in your brief and the factory quotes in writing. The multipliers on the right still show what moves the price: wool, cashmere and silk sit in the calculator’s top fabric tier.

Brief checklist

What to put in a knitwear brief.

Seven things decide whether a factory can quote your sweater properly. Tick what you have; the rest we help you fill in.

Most factories in our group start at 100 pieces per style. Some yarns have their own minimums at the spinner, so we confirm the exact minimum for your yarn and colours before you commit.

Budget 2–4 weeks for sampling, then 6–8 weeks of bulk from the approved sample. Yarn dyed to order can add time. With a fixed ship date, start at least 14 weeks before it.

Our cost calculator does not cover fully fashioned knits yet, and the yarn moves the price more than anything else. Send the yarn, gauge and quantity in your brief and the factory quotes in writing.

Yes, where the factory runs them. Name the fibre and, if you have it, the yarn supplier or a reference garment. Some factories in our group hold GOTS or OEKO-TEX; name the certificate if you need one.

Usually not customs duty: clothing in free circulation in Turkey that travels with an A.TR movement certificate usually enters the EU without it. Import VAT and your broker’s fee still apply. For the UK, zero tariff depends on the rules of origin, which depend on where the yarn and fabric came from. This is general guidance, not customs advice: check with your broker.
